Cancer Care Tournamnet Results

The 2008 marathon was another success. The total amount raised at the event this year exceeded $19,000. Congratulations to all supporters and participants in this years event.
Thank you and congratulations to top pledge earner and winner of the Al Reimer Top Pledge Earner Award ....Shawn Bjornson. Your support for this event is unparallel. Enjoy your prize too....a Blue Bomber Fan Pack.
Other top pledge earner prizes included Bomber season tickets, an all expense paid weekend at Pine Island Lodge, travel package from Greyhound, a weekend accomadation and guided daytrip at Cats on the Red (including boat rental) among dozens of prizes donated by businesses and individuals who provided prizes for top pledge earners.
Thanks to all businesses and individuals who donated prizes for pledge earners including a Lund/Rapala kit valued in excess of $1000 and Lund Gore-tex rainwear. Dozens of businesses and individuals donated many great prizes for this part of the event.
Thanks to all businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the friday Bud Spud and Steak silent auction including a trolling motor from Minn Kota, a Hummingbird 141 colour depthfinder, a beautitful handmade patchwork quilt among other great prizes.
Thanks to Craig Stapon, Andrew Klassen, Todd at Citycats,Canadian Esox Association and the Walleye Anglers Association of Manitoba for donating guided daytrips and tackle prizes for the early bird draws.
Thank you for Craig Stapon for emceeing the Bud Spud and Steak and the prize awards as well as Todd Longley for all his help and emceeing the media event.
Thank you to Manny (Manny's Live Baits) who handed out tons of prizes for people catching fish and the late night participants. Your generousity is overwhelming and has not gone unnoticed.
Thanks to Andre and all the Manitoba Conservation Officers who supported the NRO from Gypsumville who shaved his head for our event and raised over $537.
Thanks to the forum members especially Ron (a.k.a. Blue Igloo), Moe (a.k.a. Grump) and Andy (a.k.a. Big Brother) for their help with drilling holes and site setup.
Thanks to the organizing committee for all the time and work in putting on this event despite various injuries, blizzard conditions on friday and other hoops and hurdles leading up to the event.

Cancer Fishathon 2005

It was the first annual Brian LeClair Cancer Fishathon this weekend located in the town of Gimli, and judging by the turnout and the group of amazing people that both attended and organized this event it will defiantly not be the last. The event raised $13,000.00 for the battle against cancer; which is just awesome. Sadly Brian lost his battle just prior to seeing this fishathon become a reality.

The weather was beautiful during the day; the kids were running around and having snowball fights and playing games, while others opted to go for a nice helicopter ride ($40). There was a tent with people serving hot food (burgers/pizza/coffee) and another large tent that you could fish out of. All the holes were drilled for you or you could pick one of many pre-drilled holes that they drilled in the morning. I can’t forget to mention Manny from Manny’s Bait (best bait around) he was handing out bags of goodies for all the kids, all donated out of his pocket.
